Bellion on the Brain
Easter Eve was delightful. I spent the day making my soul happy. I have been wanting to get Jon Bellion's album The Human Condition for a while now. I discovered the beautiful soul that is Jon Bellion a few months back, New Music Love: Jon Bellion. Yesterday, I decide today is the day to get it! Getting a new CD is truly one of my favorite things. It usually takes a few stores to find it (took two this time - Best Buy and Target), but the instant gratification of opening it up and playing it right there driving is the best feeling.
The Human Condition sounds amazing in the car. Listening to it in the car is a beautiful experience. I was so excited too - buying/supporting a fellow Sachem Kid. Each song had me more and more smiling bumping out to his poetry.
Fun fact, Jon grew up in Lake Grove, N.Y. - which is 6 miles away from my childhood home in Farmingville, N.Y. He also went to the same high school as a lot of my family members, Sachem North. None of my friends went their though since they opened Sachem East. From our close age, I probably saw him at a 7'11 growing up.
Each song kept getting me more and more excited. New music is so good for the soul - especially when you're falling in love with it! I drove around extra miles just to listen to it more. I was falling more and more in love with The Human Condition. Jon's talent and creativity is incredible.
All of The Human Condition is amazing. You should truly listen to it in full. For now, here are a few songs I was immediately obsessed with to get you started!
"Guillotine"
You will LOVE this! All of the lyrics warm my heart and make me want to just drive away for hours bumping out, singing, and dancing along.
Stand Out Poetry:
- "Sleep on me. Feel the rhythm in my chest. Just breath."
- "I will stay so that the latern in your heart won't fade. The secrets you tell me. I'll take to my grave. There's bones in my closet, but you hang stuff anyway."
- "Kiss my lips. Feel the rhythm of your heart and hips."
"iRobot"
After I heard this song, I had to drive around more and listen to it. It immediately captured me - it's so authentic. This song reminds me of Haley's song "Colors." Jon and Halsey are very similar. Their music completes each others perfectly, showing both genders perspective.
Stand Out Poetry:
- "I knew what love was, now when they ask me, I just reply slow."
- "I had a fire, passion, and desire."
- "Inside was an ocean of soul and devotion then you cut me open."
- "Everything's gray now. Numb to the pain now."
"Carry Your Throne"
This song is on the album The Definition. Youtube shuffle played it and I am so thankful. It's amazing. It's just so authentically beautiful.
Stand Out Poetry:
- "Church bells let me ring them. She look back say baby this your kingdom."
- "If you're lost in this darkness, I'll carry your throne. No, I won't let it swallow you whole."
"The Good In Me"
The beginning of this song is perfection - automatically takes you in making you feel relaxed. The depth of each line is what drawn me into this song.
Stand Out Poetry:
- "My foundation rumbles and all my morals crumble."
- "Bled trying to climb. Making a ruin of me. Tried to survive. Keep my spirit alive."
- "Like a knife in the woods, you hunt down the good in me."
- "I can feel the darkness, it's my own fault, but you had this planned."
